The Naish Family

Family history

Working lives

Each bar shows the years in which a job is recorded for that person, from the first record to the last. A short mark means a single record, such as one census. Hover over or tap a bar for the source.

Read the Naish line from top to bottom and the work follows Salisbury’s transport: bricklaying, then coachbuilding, horse hire, a motor garage and the railway. The Welsh families moved from mines and the sea to a Fulham dairy and London engineering.

Only about 30 people have a recorded occupation, and women’s work is badly under-recorded in these sources. More will appear as the 1881–1921 census entries are added to the tree.
